By mid May, Aspen is still showing a lot of white on the mountains but we do have small green leaves sprouting and some flowers in bloom (sometimes buried under snow) so we know it is trying to be spring around here. We have even had some warm days but some very chilly ones as well. We are so ready for summer to get here, even some spring would be nice. With snowpack measured at over 120% of normal, we are pretty sure the rivers will be very healthy this summer. Rafters and kayakers will be in paradise with all the runoff and it should get pretty exciting navigating the Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers.
It’s possible hiking and mountain biking in the back country may be delayed a bit until all the snow melts. But the foliage should be super green in June and wild flowers will be abundant by July.
We are looking forward to a very exciting and fun summer with all of the normal outside activities as well as the concerts, lectures, ballet, theater and more. There are plenty of events throughout September as well, not to mention the beautiful fall colors starting after the middle of the month. It is just a great time to see Aspen.
Be sure to check out our great rates along with whatever specials we have going for your dates. As always, we look forward to your next visit!
