What a great start to March! We have gotten even more snow recently so Aspen can continue to brag about the excellent conditions on the slopes or in the backcountry. And now with Daylight Savings Time in effect, we have plenty of daylight and sunshine to enjoy it all.
Lots of parties going on around all four ski areas and at the bases. Time to celebrate the arrival of spring skiing and getting outside as much as possible. There is still a month left to take part in all of this. There are exciting events planned at all four mountains before the end of the season. Buttermilk and Aspen Highlands will be closing April 13 while Aspen Mountain and Snowmass will stay open until April 20. Continue Reading »
Big reason to celebrate in Aspen! A very powerful storm arrived yesterday, January 30 and continued all day and again all day Friday dumping more than two feet of beautiful powder! This epic storm may continue for several more hours. Just an amazing site with all the cars snowed in, people shoveling everywhere, skiers and snowboarders scrambling to the mountain for first tracks. Continue Reading »
Best early season conditions ever! In fact, you would think it was February with the amount of snow we have on the mountains around Aspen. Pretty awesome to be skiing all of Bell Mountain (on Aspen Mountain) and other double black runs on November 23! Continue Reading »

The calendar says it is officially the fall season and the weather pattern tells us the same thing. The leaves have all started changing to gorgeous colors and we have even had a couple snowfalls up high in the mountains. It is a perfect time for visiting Aspen to do your fall hiking, fishing, walking, biking, taking spectacular photos or whatever it is you like to do. The town is quiet, our rates are a super deal (check out our website at www.liftone.com) and many restaurants in town have great discounts at this time Continue Reading »
As we move this summer right along into July, Aspen is heating up with visitors enjoying a long list of activities both day and night. Our current weather has been ideal for no matter what your pleasure is.
Highlights of June included the fabulous and successful Food and Wine Classic, quite a few weddings around town and the much anticipated start of the Aspen Ideas Festival as well as the Aspen Music Festival and Theatre Aspen running all summer. The downtown core is filled with activity such as al fresco dining on every street, musicians playing in the malls, kids and dogs running around at the parks and the Farmers’ Market each Saturday. Everyone is having a great time and you don’t need to drive anywhere to enjoy any of these things! Continue Reading »
With Memorial Day weekend approaching, most of us think of this time as the start of the summer season. That is not the case in Aspen this year. Winter weather spilled into most of April and also into parts of May. We have seen snow many times in the last couple weeks. But the leaves are starting to come out and with all the rain and snow we have had, it is green everywhere you look except for the patches of snow still up high.
It was announced in the local paper that Aspen Mountain will be opening the top runs for skiing this weekend. It has been two years since there has been skiing for Memorial Day weekend but with all the snow we have gotten I guess they might as well! Continue Reading »
Sunday, August 19 sadly marking the end of this summer’s Aspen Music Festival, we say goodbye to all the wonderful concerts and events as well as the students and faculty who made it all possible.
This doesn’t mean Aspen will quiet down. The very exciting USA Pro Cycling Challenge is coming to town Wednesday, August 22 for the finish of one of the most difficult stages as the bikers conquer Independence Pass. This will be a nationally televised event. If you want a taste of the action, you can line up on the racecourse as the competitors come screaming into town. Quite a thrill to witness! On Thursday, Aspen is host to the start of the next stage. Aspen was the only town chosen to have a finish and a start of this Colorado biking tour. Don’t forget about the women! On August 22, Aspen will also have the Aspen Women’s Pro Challenge taking place downtown before the Pro Cycling racers descend into town.

The Aspen area is looking green all over with gorgeous flowers blooming everywhere! Some days you can just look around and feel so blessed to be here and to experience this beautiful time of year. Continue Reading »
It is an exciting time of year with spring coming early. The ski lifts have all closed and we are moving toward another wonderful fun-filled summer season. April in Aspen is usually a continuation of the winter months but 2012 is proving to be much different starting from the beginning of the year. Winter was gentle, very few frigid days, lots of sunshine but also not as much snow as we are accustomed to. We never know what we are going to get in the mountains. Continue Reading »
