Instant Aspen: Restaurant and Dining TipsYou’ll be so active during your Aspen vacation that you can eat without guilt – and just as well because there are enough dining choices to keep you going for years! The website www.eataspen.com offers Aspen restaurant reviews and feedback from recent diners about various restaurants, and make sure to ask our staff what’s new as well as recommendations for trusty favorites. If you want fine dining, there’s no shortage of options – here are just a few. The elegant Pinons Restaurant is guaranteed to create a perfect date night, as is as is the new Il Mulino and ever-extraordinary Matsuhisa, a jewel in the crown of the Nobu chain. Reservations for all are highly recommended and in many cases may be made online. To feel instantly Aspen, check out the many bar menus available around town. They offer great value and fun ambiance – this is exactly what the locals are up to. Particularly good bar offerings can be found at L’Hostaria, Jimmy’s (you can salsa, tango and meringue here too on certain nights!) and Cache Cache. Children will not be disappointed in Aspen’s food offerings. Families can happily refuel together at CP Burger (hamburgers, milk shakes and some fabulous adult choices thrown in – the kale salad is justly famous), perennial kids’ favorite Boogie’s Dinner and Brunelleschi’s Pizza (including the option for kids to make their own pizzas – a great way to keep little ones amused.) A highlight of our summer is the Saturday Farmers’ Market. Occupying several blocks in the downtown core, the market is our summer ‘village square’ where everyone (and their dogs) congregate and catch up. The foodie reasons to attend are almost endless – freshly popped kettle corn, brownies and gorgeous cakes and bread, the freshest Coloradan produce and a wide and wonderful array of home-grown and produced goodies await. Do the really local thing - plan a picnic and pick up supplies – or get the Butcher’s Block, Grateful Deli or the Big Wrap to do the work for you! Even in a small town our two grocery stores keep us well supplied... City Market at 711 Cooper Avenue and Clarks’ Market at 300 Puppy Smith. Whatever you need – from the day-to-day to specialties (need a birthday cake created?) these stores will have what you need. There are excellent liquor stores next to each of those stores. |
